+ 0e0f Oil Field
+
- e f Background
+ 3 7 - You are the owner of a small new oil and gas drilling and
+ exploration company. You have a loan for $1,000,000.00 in the bank,
+ the rights to drill in a 150 square mile area, and the equipment and
+ men to drill 10 wells. You have one year (10 turns) to pick your sites,
+ drill your wells, and pay off your loan.
+
- e f Setup
+ 3 7 - You will be given an 10x15 map of your field. The possible oil sites
+ will be marked by one of the following :
+ . - no oil at this site, or site already drilled.
- 6 7 +
+ 3 7 - untested oil site.
- b f S
+ 3 7 - shallow - report shows gas/oil at 4,000 - 7,000 feet.
- 9 f M
+ 3 7 - medium - report shows gas/oil at 7,000 - 10,000 feet.
- 1 f D
+ 3 7 - deep - report shows gas/oil at 10,000 - 15,000 feet.
+ At the start, you will only have sites that are untested or have no oil.
+ You can test as many sites as you want, but each test cost $10,000.00
+
- e f Reports
+ 3 7 - If you enter the coordinates of an untested oil site, a geological
+ report will be commissioned. You will be given the potential pay zone,
+ and then asked if you want to drill or not.

- e f Well Depth
+ 3 7 - Shallow Wells are more likely to produce gas and oil, but less
+ likely to pay off big. Deep Wells are just the opposite: you are less
+ likely to strike gas or oil, but if you do, you could make millions.
+ The deeper wells cost a lot more to dig, and if you go bankrupt digging
+ dry wells, your game will come to a sad end indeed.
+
- e f Drilling a Well
+ 3 7 - When you decide to drill, it will drill to the target depth.
+ If no oil or gas is found at that depth, you will be asked for a second
+ depth. If your second depth is the same as the first, it assumes that you
+ have pulled out, and are cutting your losses. The deeper you dig, the
+ more it costs. You will never find gas or oil outside the pay zone.
+
- e f Finances
+ 3 7 - If you do not run out of cash, you will be required to repay your
+ loan (plus 18%) at the end of the year. Your final amount is calculated
+ as your available cash plus 30% of your reserves. If you do run out of
+ cash, your reserves will be auctioned off. You will receive between 10%
+ and 20% from which your original loan will be subtracted. You must dig
+ at least 6 wells to be eligible for the Hall of Fame.
